Quiet and sad times.

Its been a very dark time here in Samoa, as you may have heard a state of emergency was declared in December for a measles epidemic - over 90 people died, mainly children. Health care volunteers flew in from all corners of the globe and a mass mobile vaccination took place in early December. This was the saddest Christmas I've ever experienced. The state of emergency was only lifted on December 29. Now with the rest of the world we sit in fear and wait for the end of the coronavirus, Samoa luckily has no cases to date, so we're thus far in the clear, but tourism has definitely been stung and the island at times has felt like a ghost town.
